 No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

 LASG OFFICIALS INSPECT NEWLY CONSTRUCTED ROAD IN AMIKANLE 


A team of officials from the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit of the office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State, the Technical Department, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development and Centre for Rural Development (CERUD) recently carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the newly constructed Erelu Way/Dayo Eleku/Community Link Road in Amikanle, Agbado Okeodo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).


The 1.3 km road, which is part of the massive infrastructural renewal of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's administration, is to enhance easy access, facilitate rapid socioeconomic development, attract new investments, make travel more convenient and safer, and promote the assets and general well-being of the people living in the community.


The inspection of the road is aimed at determining the technical quality, compliance with job specifications, environmental resilience, value for money, aesthetics, and such other conditions that support the suitability and readiness of the road for official commissioning. 


The team, led by Arc. Awoyemi Yusuf, a Deputy Director from the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit, was received by the representative of the contractor that handled the project, officials of the Community Development Association (CDA) and some residents of the community. 


Following some observations made by the visiting team, the contractor, the CDA and the residents agreed to work together to carry out speedy remedial actions to improve the condition of the road in readiness for its official commissioning. 


Other members of the visiting team included Engr. Onafuwa A A, Deputy Director, Technical Services, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development; Mr. Olusola Ajisafe, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, CERUD; Mr. Ogunkelu Benedict, Assistant Director (Civil); Mr. Matesun, Chief Engr. (Civil); Mr. Edward Noghese, Chief Technical Officer and Mr. Ogunlana Rowland of the Admin Department, Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit.
