Given President Donald Trump's order to acquire TikTok, the Chinese company is reportedly building another TikTok version for US users.
Trump initially accused the short video app of spying for the Chinese government and ordered the ByteDance firm to divest its US assets.
Trump said a group of wealthy US investors is ready to acquire the company, even though the US president wants China to sign off on the acquisition.
Insiders said the new TikTok version will launch on September 5 because Trump gave a September 17 deadline for the deal.
TikTok users may have to download the new app to be able to continue using the service, although the existing app will work until March of next year.
