No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat.  UZODIMMA BACKS NATIONAL FLOOD PREPAREDNESS PLAN, SAYS IMO ALREADY TAKING ACTIONS

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to proactive disaster management and environmental resilience, aligning with national directives on flood preparedness as emphasized at the recent National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

The Council called on states to activate and strengthen their State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs), operationalize Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs), enforce physical planning regulations, and institutionalize monthly environmental sanitation practices.

Governor Uzodimma, who participated in the high-level deliberations, noted that Imo State is already ahead of the curve in implementing many of these strategies.

“In Imo State, we have not waited for the floodwaters to come knocking. We have maintained a renewed and robust collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and are steadfast in putting preventive and responsive systems in place,” the Governor said.

He emphasized that the state government has prioritized compliance with building codes and urban planning regulations, while reinforcing the culture of environmental sanitation across communities.

Governor Uzodimma’s position at the NEC meeting further reinforces Imo’s readiness to tackle climate-related emergencies and protect lives and property across the state.
