 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. 5 arrested in investigation of Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro’s overdose death

Two years after the death of Robert De Niro’s 19-year-old grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez, authorities have arrested five more individuals in connection with the case, law enforcement officials confirmed.

Leandro was found dead on July 2, 2023, from an apparent accidental drug overdose. The suspects, all men, are facing charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in death. A sixth person, Sofia H. Marks, had been arrested shortly after the incident for allegedly selling drugs to Leandro.

DEA New York Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino said the arrests are intended to provide some closure for grieving families and highlight the dangers of social media platforms being used to distribute fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills. “Whether you deal on the screens or in our streets, the DEA and our law enforcement partners remain committed to targeting those responsible. This is a fight to save lives,” he stated.

Leandro’s mother, Drena De Niro, expressed her grief publicly after her son’s passing, describing him as her “joy, my heart, and all that was ever pure and real” in her life. Leandro had appeared in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, playing the son of Bradley Cooper’s character’s friend, as well as in Cabaret Maxime. He was 19 years old.
