In a significant boost to its ongoing anti-cultism campaign, the Abia State Police Command has arrested four students from Abia State University (ABSU) suspected of belonging to the notorious Vikings Confraternity. The suspects face charges of criminal conspiracy, robbery, membership in an unlawful society, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The arrests were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka.
The operation stemmed from a complaint lodged on October 27, 2025, at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters by an ABSU student. The victim reported being accosted, assaulted, and robbed of his phone by the suspects.
Acting on actionable intelligence, detectives from the Uturu division apprehended the following individuals, all confirmed as ABSU students:
- Emmanuel Ifeanyi, 22 years old (male)
- Adiwo Chukwuemeka, 27 years old (male)
- Ogbonna John, 27 years old (male)
- Hope Worenwu, 23 years old (male)
A search of the suspects yielded several incriminating items, including:
1. One cut-to-size double-barreled locally made gun
2. Four live cartridges
3. One black mask
4. Three caps, two of which bore the emblem of De Norsemen Club International
5. Two phones (one iPhone 12 and one REDMI phone), with the REDMI identified by the victim as his stolen property
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity. The case has been transferred to the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation, with efforts underway to arrest additional gang members.
