 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  "How can you compare a man standing on one leg to a man standing on four legs?" ~Ned Nwoko 


Senator Ned Nwoko has today in an interview with Channels TV, defended polygamy, affirming that having multiple wives brings balance and stability to a man’s life.


He sympathized with every man who has married just one wife. 

"All men should do that (practice polygamy). For instance, just imagine standing on one leg, you know how difficult it is, but to stand on 2, 3 or 4 is more balanced. So, I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg", he said.


This statement has since stirred up reactions across the media today amid the ongoing tension in his household, following the last wife Regina Daniels' earlier outburst and the recent acquisition of a new mansion.


Ned Nwoko also denied allegations of domestic vi0lence involving Regina, describing them as baseless.


He maintained that he has no regrets about his marital decisions and emphasised on how he loves and respects his wives and children equally.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
