 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  Anambra Church ordian 3 women bishops at the 61st National convention of the church 


The National Holy Ghost Church of Christ International (NHGCC),with headquarters in Ubaha Ndiowu community, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State has continued to raise the voices and status of women in the church and ministry.


At the recent 61st National Convention of the church, nine priests of the church, including three females, were elevated to the position of Bishops by the General Overseer and Presiding Prelate of the Church, Archbishop Cynthia Adaoma Josephson


The ordination service, which took place at the All Soul’s Cathedral, Ubaha Ndiowu, saw other bishops, members of the clergy and legal team of the church in attendance. Among them was renowned Nollywood actress turned evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi.


Among the newly ordained female Bishops are Juliet Eme, Anyaeneh Josephine, and Grace Agagwo. The other seven are Okey Eze, Joel Okeke, Ikechukwu Ifejilika, Peter Chukwu, Okoye Anene, and Emmanuel Abora.


The Bishops were administered with different oaths such as oath of allegiance to God, abstinence from secret cults, gay and lesbianism, submission to bible doctrines and practices, among others.


Speaking shortly after their ordination, the Presiding Archbishop,  Dr Cynthia Josephson said the theme of the  Convention “It is Written”, was a reminder that God has given man, His creature, power over darkness
