Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search.  FIRE RAZES 5 HOUSES NEAR DIVINE MERCY SECONDARY SCHOOL, ZAKI-BIAM 


13th January, 2026    


No fewer than five houses were on Tuesday razed by fire following an outbreak behind Divine Mercy Secondary School, Zaki-Biam, in Benue State.


The inferno reportedly engulfed the residential buildings within minutes, destroying household items and other valuables estimated to be worth millions of naira.


Eyewitnesses said residents were thrown into panic as the fire spread rapidly, leaving little or no opportunity to salvage personal belongings.


Although no casualty has been reported, the cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained as of the time of filing this report.


Meanwhile, affected residents have appealed to the state government and public-spirited individuals for assistance to cushion the impact of the loss.
