 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano approaches 40th eruption as activity intensifies

 Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano is approaching its 40th eruption as recent activity signals that lava fountaining could begin anytime between Sunday and Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The volcano, one of the world’s most active, has been showing heightened activity since Dec. 23, 2024, when its current eruptive episode, Episode 39, began.

The USGS has set Kilauea at a Volcano Alert Level of "Watch" and an Aviation Color Code of "Orange," indicating increased volcanic unrest and the possibility of an eruption that could pose limited hazards. On Saturday, volcanic tremors intensified, and dome-shaped lava fountains reaching 50 feet continued at Halemaʻumaʻu, feeding lava flows from both the north and south vents. Overnight activity included intermittent overflows, with lava spreading 250 to 500 feet wide and extending more than half a mile into the crater. By late afternoon, the south vent drained temporarily while a new lava dome emerged, quickly resuming overflows. The ongoing activity suggests that Kilauea could enter its next eruptive phase at any moment.
