AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk.  Volvo recalls 413,000 vehicles due to rearview camera software problem

Volvo is recalling more than 413,000 vehicles across the U.S. due to a software issue that can cause the rearview camera to fail, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. Instead of displaying the camera view, the screen may show a message that the camera is temporarily unavailable.

The recall affects multiple models from the 2021 to 2025 model years, including the XC40, S90, V90, XC60, V90CC, XC90, V60CC, V60, S60, C40BEV, EC40, and EX40. Volvo plans to fix the problem with a free software update, which can be installed by dealers or delivered over the air. The update is currently being prepared and is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.

This marks the second recall for some of these vehicles following a similar issue identified in May 2025. The company says this latest recall addresses an additional software problem causing the same camera failure. Volvo estimates that all affected vehicles are impacted, though no injuries, crashes, or deaths have been reported as of late December. Owner notification letters are expected by mid-February, and drivers can contact Volvo customer service or check the NHTSA website to confirm if their vehicle is included.
