Amid Cancer Battle, Teddi Mellencamp Celebrates Daughter Dove’s 6th Birthday

There are birthdays, and then there are milestones that feel deeply personal. For Teddi Mellencamp, her daughter Dove turning six is more than cake and candles.

It is gratitude, reflection, and a quiet celebration of resilience.

On February 25, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute to her youngest child.

“Happy birthday to my miracle baby,” she wrote, opening a message that quickly moved beyond the usual birthday wishes.

Mellencamp spoke about the strength Dove has shown since infancy, referencing the neurosurgery her daughter underwent in 2020 after being diagnosed with lambdoid craniosynostosis.

“The strength and resilience you have shown since you came into this world is something I have learned to use in my own fight,” she shared, drawing a connection to her ongoing cancer treatment journey.

Now six years old, Dove continues to inspire her mother in new ways. “You’re teaching us all how to enjoy life to the fullest while being your unabashed self,” Mellencamp wrote.

She also acknowledged a painful memory from last year. “I am still so sorry I was in the hospital and missed your 5th party, but dang you don’t know how grateful I am to be at this one. Love you so much, Dovey Doo. Hope this year is your best yet.”

The post included two images that quietly told their own story. One showed Mellencamp holding baby Dove shortly after surgery.

The other captured a lighter moment, mother and daughter smiling together at this year’s celebration.

Support poured in from friends and fellow reality stars, including Real Housewives of Orange County personality Tamra Judge, who commented, “Happy birthday Dove.”

Dove’s health journey has been public from the start. Back in 2020, Mellencamp shared a photo of her infant daughter wearing a cranial helmet following surgery. In the caption, written from Dove’s perspective, she noted that aside from a “zig zag scar underneath my hair,” you would hardly know what the baby had gone through.

While celebrating her daughter, Mellencamp has also been navigating her own medical battle. Earlier this month, she marked one year since receiving her stage 4 cancer diagnosis. “A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum sized stage 4 tumors on my brain,” she wrote in another Instagram post.

Her message carried both honesty and hope. She admitted feeling anxious about the anniversary, but also deeply thankful.

“Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.”

Mellencamp’s cancer journey began in 2022 with stage 2 melanoma. After undergoing 17 surgeries, she later revealed in April 2025 that the disease had advanced to stage 4 and spread to her brain and lungs.

Doctors initially gave her a “50/50” chance of survival. Today, after ongoing immunotherapy treatment, she says there is “no trace of cancer.”
