 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Catholic Priest, Others Abducted In Kaduna Community Attack


A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, has been abducted alongside ten other persons following a violent attack on Karku community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


The incident occurred in the early hours of February 7, 2026, at about 3:20 a.m. (WAT), at the priest’s residence. Rev. Fr. Asuwaye is the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, under the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.


According to a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, PhD, the attackers were described by residents as a group of terrorists who invaded the community in a coordinated operation.


The attack reportedly resulted in the death of three individuals, identified as Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari, while others were taken away by the assailants.


The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called on priests, Christian faithful, and people of goodwill to pray for the safe and speedy release of Rev. Fr. Asuwaye and the other abducted victims. 


The diocese also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the attack.


The diocese further entrusted the victims to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while urging continued solidarity and prayers amid the worsening security situation in parts of Kaduna State.
