 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Catholic Priest, Others Abducted In Kaduna Community Attack


A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, has been abducted alongside ten other persons following a violent attack on Karku community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


The incident occurred in the early hours of February 7, 2026, at about 3:20 a.m. (WAT), at the priest’s residence. Rev. Fr. Asuwaye is the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, under the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.


According to a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, PhD, the attackers were described by residents as a group of terrorists who invaded the community in a coordinated operation.


The attack reportedly resulted in the death of three individuals, identified as Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari, while others were taken away by the assailants.


The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called on priests, Christian faithful, and people of goodwill to pray for the safe and speedy release of Rev. Fr. Asuwaye and the other abducted victims. 


The diocese also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the attack.


The diocese further entrusted the victims to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while urging continued solidarity and prayers amid the worsening security situation in parts of Kaduna State.
