 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. … Seeks Stronger Security Collaboration


The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun, FHTI, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting federal security agencies in strengthening community safety and internal security across the division.


Hon. Animashaun gave the assurance while receiving the Comptroller of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Comptroller Olofinbiyi Christopher, during a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Council Secretariat.


Welcoming the delegation, the Chairman commended the Comptroller’s professionalism, strategic leadership, and commendable track record, noting that the Nigeria Immigration Service has continued to play a crucial role in safeguarding the division.


She assured the team of the Council’s readiness to provide office accommodation, enhance collaboration, and support grassroots sensitisation initiatives aimed at promoting security awareness and maintaining peace and tranquillity within the community.


Princess Animashaun emphasised that synergy between local governments and federal security agencies remains essential in addressing emerging security challenges and ensuring that residents enjoy a safe and secure environment.


Earlier in his remarks, Comptroller Olofinbiyi stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Service and Epe Local Government to enhance enforcement of immigration laws, strengthen internal security operations, and improve the management of travel documents and residence permits.


He noted that sustained surveillance efforts by the Command have significantly curtailed illegal immigration within the division but appealed for support in critical areas such as office space, accommodation, patrol vehicles, and other operational logistics to boost efficiency.


The Comptroller was accompanied by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of ECOWAS and African Affairs, B.K. Danja, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, and other senior officers.


The meeting was attended by principal officials of Epe Local Government, including the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Taofeek Araba; the Council Manager, Mrs. Sofoluwe; the Majority Leader, Hon. Oluwo Rasheed, and the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Tunde Fuad Odupe, among other management staff.
