  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  Be Attentive to Your Husbands, Families - Catholic Cleric Urges Mothers on Mother's Day

Rev. Fr. Francis Oranye, Parish Priest of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Awka, urged mothers to give serious attention to their husbands' needs, just as they do for their children, emphasizing that husbands are also part of their responsibilities.


He pointed out that some family issues stem from mothers not taking time to consider their husbands and ensuring their well-being.


"Some mothers do not communicate with their husbands and prefer to connect only with their children, neglecting their husbands' faith. Can you openly condemn children who do wrong if they contribute more to the family?" he asked. He encouraged mothers to show care and interest in their husbands.


He made this statement during the 9:30am Mass today at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, GRA, Awka, celebrating the 2026 Mother's Day observed by the Catholic faithful.


He praised those who diligently care for their families, urging them to stay steadfast. He emphasized that it is their duty to foster calm, peace, and unity at home. "Mothers are the hope and joy of the family. Let us always look inward to ensure our children are raised in the fear of God and in the right way."


Fr. Oranye further stated that, without Jesus, there is no life or hope, noting that Jesus' resurrection brings joy to the human heart. "God’s word plays a vital role in our lives; it guides us on the right path. Ignoring it leads to confusion. As we work and fellowship, let the word of God be with us—our food and message to others," he said.


The President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Dr. Christy Odimegwu, expressed gratitude to the Parish Priest and other priests for their support during the celebration. She also thanked the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Holy Childhood, and the entire congregation.


She encouraged those not yet affiliated with the group to join, believing their involvement will positively impact their homes. "We urge everyone to practice our theme, "Love in Action,' in their families. During the celebration, we had drama, march past, cristenics, and more. I invite all mothers to showcase their talents," she added.


The highlight of the Mass included a thanksgiving procession by the mothers and the presentation of trophies to the winners of the 2025 Harvest/Bazaar.
