 PFN President Vows to Resist Proposed Ban on Preaching in Commercial Buses The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has criticised the proposed legislation seeking to prohibit preaching and unsolicited religious activities in commercial buses, declaring that Christians would continue to evangelise despite the measure. Oke, who spoke during a church sermon on Sunday, vowed that members of the PFN would resist any attempt to enforce the proposed law, insisting that preaching the gospel remained a divine mandate that could not be overridden by legislation. The cleric said Christians would continue to preach in buses and other public places, citing the biblical instruction to spread the gospel across the world. “Make all the stadiums in Nigeria become prisons; if you want to enforce that law, we are coming.  NCC BOARD COMMENDS INDUSTRY'S INFRASTRUCTURE EXPANSION EFFORTS


The Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)  has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s telecommunications sector and advancing the nation’s digital economy. It also commended the industry's infrastructure expansion drive. This was at the NCC 109th Board Meeting where they issued a communique. 


The Board commended Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) for ongoing investments aimed at expanding network coverage and improving Quality of Experience for consumers. It noted that operators have planned the deployment of more than 12,000 additional coverage and capacity sites nationwide, with over 5,000 already completed.


The Board also acknowledged the expansion of fibre connectivity to more than 700 sites and infrastructure upgrades across over 2,000 Base Transceiver Stations by co-location and infrastructure-sharing licensees.


On consumer protection, the Board reviewed the implementation of directives requiring operators to compensate subscribers affected by poor Quality of Service and noted substantial compliance. More than 75 million subscribers have so far benefited from compensation measures, while validation exercises continue to ensure all eligible consumers are adequately covered.


The Board also considered Nigeria’s growing demand for data services and emphasized the importance of expanding fibre infrastructure to improve service quality, reduce pressure on mobile networks, and enhance connectivity for homes, businesses, and institutions. It noted the significant growth in Fibre-to-the-Home subscriptions and reaffirmed support for policies that will encourage broader access to wholesale backbone and metropolitan fibre networks.


Addressing sector challenges, the Board expressed concern over persistent incidents of infrastructure vandalism and reiterated the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to protect telecommunications assets. It commended ongoing
