There Are So Many People Around The President With A Rosy Picture Of What The Country Is — Onaiyekan I was not surprised the president wasn’t looking very happy, even his colleagues present. We knew this is different from what our president keeps receiving from people, and that is one of the things that worry us. We have the obligation to help him to appreciate the reality of the situation in which we have found ourselves.  John Cardinal Onaiyekan Archbishop Emeritus, Catholic Diocese of Abuja

ACTDA Demolishes Illegal Structures, Reopens Blocked Access Road in Umuike, Awka

‎By Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige

‎The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, on July 28, carried out an enforcement operation at Umuike, Awka. The team lead by Commander of Enforcrment, Jude Nworah reopened a blocked access road that had been obstructed by illegal structures erected by land grabbers and unauthorized developers.

‎During the operation, the enforcement team demolished the illegal obstructions that had prevented residents and motorists from using the road. The action was taken after several warnings and notices to the developers to remove the structures were ignored.

‎The reopening of the road has restored public access and eased movement for residents in the area. Community members who witnessed the exercise commended ACTDA for taking decisive steps to reclaim public infrastructure.

‎Speaking after the operation, the Commander of the Enforcement, Mr. Jude Nworah said the exercise reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and enforcing planning regulations across the Capital Territory. The official noted that illegal developments threaten orderly growth and create serious problems during emergencies and flooding.

‎ACTDA warned that illegal developments and encroachments on public roads, drainages, and setbacks will not be tolerated. The Authority urged developers to obtain proper approvals before building and to adhere to the approved master plan, stressing that compliance will prevent demolition and save property owners from losses-suggest an headline
