 Prince William and Kate Middleton bring George, Charlotte and Louis to Commonwealth Games for first Scotland public outing Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their three children to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, marking the siblings’ first official public appearance in Scotland. The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, attended the sporting event on Saturday, Aug. 1, during their summer break with Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8. While in Scotland, where William and Kate are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, the family spent time with Team Wales athletes and their families. The couple also visited SportsAid, an organisation that supports young athletes. Kate has served as patron of the organisation since 2013.  Terriorists Kill FIRS Director A Director with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Alhaji Mohammadu Kudu Lawal, has been killed by gunmen who attacked the vehicle in which he was traveling in the Saminaka village of Lapai local government area of Niger state on Sunday night.Another staff of the FIRS whose name was not known was injured in the attack by the gunmen. It was learnt that the Director who hailed from Lafiagi in Kwara state was traveling to Abuja when the ran into the bandits who sprayed the Hillux van in which they were traveling with bullets. THISDAY gathered that a food vendour and four others were abducted by the gunmen during a raid on her restaurant. During the sporadic shooting, bullets were said to have hit two petrol laden tankers which burst into flames causing destruction in the area. The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Inga confirmed the incident which he described as sad and pathetic.  ...

Massively famous for her role as Sandy alongside fellow actor John Travolta in the hit Musical movie Grease! But after a 30-year battle with breast cancer, Olivia Newton-John has passed away. Her rep confirmed the news, saying Olivia "died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning 8th August 2022 surrounded by family and friends." She was only 73 years old. Thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time  R.I.P. Olivia.    Her co star John Travolta wrote on social media.  johntravolta: " My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. we will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!".

AMOTEKUN INTERCEPTS ANOTHER SET OF 168 SUSPECTED INVADERS.(PHOTOS).

The Ondo State Security Network (popularly known as Amotekun) has intercepted a total of 320 persons suspected to be invaders as they were moving into the state from the northern part of the country. The Amotekun Corps made the interceptions in two different operations. The first was on 4 August when they found at least 152 persons around 6 a.m. during a stop and search along Akure-Ado-Ekiti road. A fresh interception of a group of 168 persons was made on Sunday along with nine kidnap suspects. The drivers of the trucks conveying the alleged invaders claimed they were coming from Abuja, Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States to Ondo State. More photos below.

Government of Imo State  Press Release  Uzodimma distances self from social media report on Soludo's  position on History study Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has distanced himself completely from a social media report where mischief makers linked him to a report that criticised Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State over his position on the reintroduction of history in schools. Governor Soludo had recently suggested that the reintroduction of history in the Anambra State's school curriculum will go a long way in ensuring that the people know where they were coming from and where they are going.  But the said mischief makers who are out to undermine Governor Uzodimma and create mistrust between him and Governor Soludo took to the Facebook to say that the Imo State Governor knocked his brother Governor Soludo and that the "re-introduction of History subject by Soludo will bring about bitterness against Nigerian government, cannot stand." LASG LIFTS SUSPENSION OF PLANNING APPROVALS IN BANANA ISLAND, OSBORNE FORESHORE SCHEMES The Lagos State Government has lifted the suspension order on granting Planning Permits for land extension into the lagoon at Banana Island and Osborne Foreshore Schemes. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, said the lifting of the suspension was predicated on the projection of the new boundaries of 20-200 meters from the original boundary of the Banana Island and Foreshore Estate, and 100 meters from the original boundary of Osborne Foreshore Schemes I and II into the Lagos Lagoon.
