IBRAHIM HADEJIA, DCOS, GEORGE AKUME, SGF President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday in Abuja announced the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff. In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).   Ondo Assembly Speaker Oloyeloogun who is under EFCC’s investigation over N2.4m fraud resign.  Ondo Assembly Speaker Oloyeloogun who is under EFCC’s investigation over N2.4m fraud resigns.  The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, who is under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged N2.4 million fraud, has resigned from his position as the head of the state legislative arm. This development came a few days to the expiration of the ninth Assembly .The speaker’s resignation was contained in a letterhead of the House, signed and addressed to the Clerk of the House, dated 01-06-2023. The letter was made available on Friday, May 2, 2023, and was titled, ‘Resignation as Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly.’ The letter read, “Please permit me to inform you that I, Rt. Hon. DIRECTS IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF OUTSTANDING SALARIES OF CIVIL SERVANTS 2nd June, 2023   Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu has directed the office of the state accountant general to offset outstanding May salary of civil servants before end of Monday 5th 2023. Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of Secretary to the state government (SSG) Timothy Gibon Katap at Government House Jalingo, the Governor said he received series of complaints by the civil servants after taking oath of office last Monday over pending salaries. He reaffirmed his commitment to take the state to the next level of development as promised during his campaign. The governor however charged the new SSG to leave above board, stating that the position of the SSG was so key in every government. OYO POLICE DECLARES AUXILIARY WANTED  Police Declares Oyo Transport Leader, Lamidi ‘Auxiliary’, Wanted The Oyo State Police Command has declared the sacked Chairman of Park Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi aka Auxiliary, wanted, the authorities revealed in a media briefing on Friday. The move follows another raid of his hotel where more dangerous weapons were recovered on Thursday. Policemen had stormed Auxiliary’s Ibadan residence recovering weapons and ammunition. During the operation, the suspect reportedly escaped, while some of his lieutenants were however arrested by the police. There was palpable tension in some parts of the state after the raid, especially in major car parks and garages in Ibadan, amid reports of an unconfirmed number of casualties during the face-off between the police and PMS members.  Delay in Supreme Court stalls hearing of petition against Tinubu, Shettma, others 2 June 2023  The delay in the Supreme Court’s release of its May 26 judgment on the case by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalled Friday’s scheduled hearing in the petition file before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The Supreme Court had, in the judgment, dismissed the case by the PDP in which the party sought to void the joint ticket of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettma as presidential and vice presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election. The PDP had, in its case claimed that Shettma violated the Electoral Act by allowing himself to be nominated twice for two different offices – Borno Central Senatorial district and Vice President. Upon being informed about the Supreme Court judgment on May 30, the PEPC adjourned the hearing in the petition by the APM, which raised the same issue as in the PDP case,...

Man gunned down in Rivers over kingship tussle, residents flee 2 June 2023  A 56-year-old man, Mr Nnabuihe Aburi Edi has been killed by suspected gunmen in Abarikpo community in Ahoada-East LGA of Rivers State. Edi was allegedly murdered Tuesday, around 4am in his family compound. The deceased who is from the Dickson’s family in Abarikpo was allegedly gunned down for purportedly opposing the choice of who becomes the next paramount ruler of the Akoh Clan. “He was dragged out of his house by his killers, who are well known and shot him”, News Express source said. “The killers are form the same community, and were joined by other criminals from outside the community. They dragged him out of his house and shot him many times and he died on the spot”, the source continued.
