 Prince William and Kate Middleton bring George, Charlotte and Louis to Commonwealth Games for first Scotland public outing Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their three children to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, marking the siblings’ first official public appearance in Scotland. The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, attended the sporting event on Saturday, Aug. 1, during their summer break with Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8. While in Scotland, where William and Kate are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, the family spent time with Team Wales athletes and their families. The couple also visited SportsAid, an organisation that supports young athletes. Kate has served as patron of the organisation since 2013.  Panel, ASUU meet Wednesday over strike threat The Federal Government has set up committees to resolve certain grey arrears raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities in an ultimatum issued close to three weeks ago, the Vice President, ASUU, Prof. Chris Piwuna, made this known to newsmen in Abuja. The committee will meet on September 11, 2024. These were the resolutions made at the end of a closed-door meeting held between ASUU’s leadership and the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education headed by Prof. Tahir Mamman. “The meeting is over; committees were set up to resolve the IPPIS/EAA and salary areas stuff. The committee is to meet 11th next week,” Piwuna said in a terse message to our correspondent.  No problems with Igbo, says Abia Yoruba community The Yoruba United Community in Abia State has said Yoruba people have no problem with the Igbo, condemning the recent “IgboMustGo” slogan, which trended in Lagos during the recent #Hunger protest. Speaking on Saturday in Umuahia after his re-election for a second term,  the President General of the Yoruba United Community, Abia State, Okikiade Yusuf, said, “We have no crisis in Abia. The crisis between the Yoruba and the Igbo is political and we must try to remove such a crisis, which is unnecessary and must be stopped. Yoruba and Igbo are one. We have no crisis in Abia and Abians are loving. “Abia is our first state and Yoruba is our second state. We live here, do business here and marry from here. PDP spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said Kwankwaso is struggling to lead the NNPP which controls only Kano State in Nigeria. Responding to Kwankwaso’s comment that PDP is dead, Ologunagba said NNPP can’t be compared to the former ruling party. The Senate explained that the hearing was postponed for wider consultations with stakeholders whose input and participation would add value to the conclusion of the investigative hearing. Some key stakeholders summoned to appear before the committee at a public hearing scheduled for September 10 to 12, 2024, include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Ports Authority.  Algeria Election: President Tebboune Wins Re-Election With 95% of Vote Abdelmadjid Tebboune secured a landslide victory in the recent Algeria election, garnering over 5.3 million votes, representing 94.65% of the total, according to the countrie's electoral body. Tebboune's two opponents, moderate Islamist Abdelaali Hassani and left-wing candidate Youcef Aouchiche, received 3.17% and 2.16% of the vote, respectively.  This re-election marks Tebboune's second five-year term.
