The decision follows extensive deliberations during an enlarged meeting of NUT representatives on March 4, 2025, and a subsequent meeting of the State Standing Committee on March 28.  How 25-Year-Old Nigerian Soldier Was Caught In Kaduna Smuggling Ammunition From Frontline Operations The military has apprehended a 25-year-old soldier, Private Yahaya Yunusa, for unlawful possession of ammunition in Jaji, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Yunusa, attached to the 197 Special Forces Battalion in Zamfara State, was arrested around 11:55 a.m. on Friday while carrying 214 rounds of various calibres of linked ammunition. An operational report obtained exclusively by SaharaReporters on Sunday revealed that the soldier was found with unauthorised ammunition, his military identification card, and several Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards at the time of his arrest. The report detailed that Yunusa was in possession of 50 rounds of 12.7×108mm and 69 rounds of 7.62×54mmR—both sets linked by chains—35 rounds of unlinked 7.62×54mmR, and 60 rounds of 5.56×45mm.
