  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  EFCC Arraigns Five Katsina Revenue Officials, Bank Staff for Alleged N1.2bn Fraud The Kano Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 arraigned  five officials of the Katsina State Board of Internal Revenue  and one bank staff before Justice Musa Danladi of the  Katsina State High Court sitting in Katsina,  Katsina State.  They were arraigned on seven-count charges bordering on conspiracy and diversion of public funds totaling N1, 235, 330,000 (One Billion, Two Hundred and Thirty Five Million, Three Hundred and Thirty  Thousand, Naira) accruing to the state from the  World Health Organization, Medicins Sans Frontiers, Alliance for International Medical Action, ALIMA.  Court Jails Man Six Months for Internet Fraud in Lagos The Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, secured the conviction and sentence of one Farouq Olayinka Aremu before Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. He was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on cybercrime. The count reads: “ That you, Faruq Olayinka Aremu, sometime in 2025, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, fraudulently held out yourself on Instagram as @jeoglenn bearing the name Jeo Glenn, a white man with intent to gain advantage for yourself and you thereby by committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 22 (3) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition etc ) Act 2015.” He “pleaded” guilty to the charge preferred against him.  Egypt to open new $1 billion Pyramids museum Egypt said on Wednesday that its much-anticipated new $1-billion archaeological museum near the Pyramids of Giza will officially open on November 1 after several delays, AFP reported. Authorities hope that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which boasts the treasures of Tutankhamun among its collection of more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian artefacts, will attract visitors from around the world. Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly told a cabinet meeting that President Abdel Fattah el Sisi had approved the new opening date. Officials say that at 50 hectares (124 acres), the museum will be the largest in the world dedicated to a single civilisation.  Ghana declares three days of national mourning for helicopter crash victims Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning beginning Thursday, August 7, following Wednesday’s helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two serving government ministers. Mahama also suspended all his scheduled activities and engagements for the remainder of the week, presidential spokesman Felix Kwakye Ofosu said in a statement.  K1 Had Alcohol In His Flask At Point Of Boarding — FAAN The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said that acclaimed King of Fuji, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1 De Ultimate, had alcohol with him at the point of boarding a Value Jet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday. The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of FAAN, Obiageli Orah, said this in a statement she issued over the incident involving K1 and Value Jet. Recall that K1 De Ultimate was almost crushed when the pilot of the flight took off with him in front of the aircraft with some ground staff. He was busy so he sent Omane Boamah to represent him Ghana is mourning after a military helicopter crash near Obuasi claimed the lives of eight individuals — but it could have been worse. Reports indicate that President John Dramani Mahama was originally scheduled to attend the Obuasi event on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, but later delegated Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah to represent him.  The helicopter carrying the Minister and others crashed in the Sikaman Forest, Adansi South District, Ashanti Region. Among the dead are two government ministers, senior national security officers, and three military crew members.
