Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search.  Reason Kwankwaso can’t join APC – Buba Galadima A chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Buba Galadima, has explained why the former presidential candidate of his party will not join the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Galadima accused the federal government of appointing two emirs in Kano, noting that there is a federal government emir and a state emir.  A million Obis can't do better than Tinubu - APC Chief All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Biodun Ajiboye, has expressed  doubts about the leadership abilities of opposition figure Peter Obi.  Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today, Ajiboye asserted that Obi's past performance as governor of Anambra State does not qualify him to lead Nigeria.  He went on to say that "a million Obi" couldn't outperform President Bola Tinubu.  Court begins trial of Owo Church attack suspects A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja is set to commence the trial of five persons accused of masterminding the bombing of a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State. The Department of State Services (DSS) had on the 11th of August, 2025, arraigned the five men before Justice Emeka Nwite over their alleged involvement in the June 5, 2022, attack at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo State. The five persons — Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Otuho Abubakar — are to face trial for the attack which claimed over 40 lives and left over 100 individuals injured.The five defendants were arraigned on nine-count terrorism charges by the Department of State Services (DSS), and they all pleaded not guilty.  FORMER GTB EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED PENCOM CHAIRMAN  President Bola Tinubu has appointed Opeyemi Agbaje as the new chairman of the National Pension Commission (PenCom). Agbaje worked at the legal department of First Bank of Nigeria Plc before joining Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) where he rose to become an executive director before his resignation.  He previously served on the board of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and briefly as CEO of the Ogun State Security Trust Fund. He studied law and was called to the bar before working at various places.

A MISSING CALIFORNIA WOMAN AND HER 8-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER HAVE BEEN FOUND DEAD INSIDE OF HER SUBMERGED SUV.(PHOTO).

 A missing California woman and her 8-month-old daughter have been found deceased inside of her submerged SUV. 36-year-old Whisper Owen and her young daughter Sandra, have been missing since July 15th. The pair had been visiting family in Fresno but never made it home. Since that time, an extensive search effort has been ongoing.  Sadly, authorities made the heartbreaking announcement that Whisper's SUV was discovered on Sunday. The SUV was found  submerged in a canal. The bodies of Whisper and Sandra were located inside of the SUV. California Highway Patrol and San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office have launched an investigation into how the mother and daughter ended up in the canal.  Our thoughts are with the family of Whisper Owen and her daughter Sandra McCarty.

 DEFILEMENT CASES: ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS ANOTHER TWO SUSPECTS, SECURE MEDICAL EVIDENCE AND READY TO CHARGE TO COURT Anambra State Police Operatives have arrested two (2) suspects in two (2) separate cases of defilement reported and transferred to the Gender unit at the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. The Operatives have also secured medical evidence to prove the suspects' culpability and will charge the case to Court on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025. The cases include:  A case of defilement  transferred from CPS Onitsha on 8th August 2025 which stated how one Emmnuel Sampson living in Odoakpu, Onitsha lured an 8-year-old daughter of his neighbour under the pretence of giving her food and thereafter had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.  Similarly, on 14th August 2025, a case of defilement was transferred from the 3-3 Division which stated how a 13-year-old girl was defiled by a security man in an  Estate.
