 STRANDED MENTALLY ILL WOMAN GIVES BIRTH AT AGASHA HEALTH CENTRE, FAMILY SEARCH BEGINS 17th December, 2025     A mentally ill woman has given birth to a baby boy after being found stranded in active labour on the streets of Agasha, Benue State. The incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, when concerned individuals intervened and rushed the woman to the Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), Agasha, where she was safely delivered of the child. Medical officials at the facility confirmed that laboratory tests were conducted on the woman, but noted that both mother and baby now require proper care and support from family members or responsible guardians. Preliminary information suggests the woman hails from Mbakor, Tarkaa Local Government Area, with Wannune identified as her origin. Kaduna State Revenue Enforcement Team Arrest 6 For Illegal Tax Collection.

Six People have been arrested in connection with illegal tax collection by a joint enforcement team of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service and the Nigeria Police.

A statement signed by the Head Corporate Communication of the Kaduna State Revenue Service Mallam Zakari Jamilu Muhammad says the arrests took place within Rafin Guza, Kawo and Ungwar Dosa axis of Kaduna North Local Government Area.

It says the arrested individuals were caught in the process of collecting illicit revenues from unsuspected shop owners which contravenes section Fifty One of the Kaduna state tax consolidation law.

The statement says the acting executive chairman of the service Mr. Jerry Adams  committement to restoring tax payers confidence and promoting transparency has resulted in the arrests and appealed to residents to report any perceived illegal collection acts to the office.

The full text of the statement reads below:
"Success was recorded on the 9h of August, 2023 in a commendable display of collaborative effort between the enforcement team of KADIRS and The Nigeria Police Force apprehended a SIX man gang of illegal tax collectors in a swift operation on Muhammadu Buhari way, Kaduna North Local Government Area.

The joint operation which took place on the said date resulted in the arrest of six individuals who were allegedly involved in illicit revenue collection activities. 

The suspects were caught red handed while collecting cash from unsuspecting individuals which contravenes section (51 ) of the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation law, 2020 which states the mode of payment and prohibitions. Notwithstanding any provision in any law on assessments, levying or collection of taxes, levies, revenues or surcharges in the state, NO revenue shall be payable or collected in cash by any person or authority, but only by bank draft, electronic debits or credit card, point of sales terminal or money transfer in bank account of the service, and any other electronic means approved by the board for such purpose.

This operation is a testament to the Acting Executive Chairman, Mr. Jerry Adam's commitment in restoring taxpayers confidence, sanitizing and promoting transparency in tax administration in Kaduna state.

 However, the alleged suspected criminals are with the security operatives-for further investigation and prosecution.
