Davido Fires Back at Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo Over Uncle Ademola Adeleke's 'Dancing' Habits

Afrobeats superstar Davido has publicly defended his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, following critical remarks made by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo. The political friction escalated quickly online after Okpebholo mocked Adeleke's well-known penchant for dancing.

The Catalyst: Governor Okpebholo's Campaign Remarks

The political drama unfolded during an All {political_party} campaign rally on Thursday. While addressing a crowd of supporters ahead of the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election, Governor Okpebholo urged residents to vote Adeleke out of office. He alleged that the incumbent Osun governor prioritizes dancing and entertainment over serious executive governance.

Adeleke, often dubbed the "dancing governor," has long embraced his love for music and dance, a trait that has endeared him to many young Nigerians but has frequently drawn criticism from political opponents.

Davido Fires Back with Academic Receipts

Not one to let criticism of his family slide, Davido took to his Instagram Stories early Friday morning to retaliate. Rather than defending his uncle’s dancing habits, the multi-award-winning musician aimed directly at Okpebholo’s academic credentials.

Davido shared a screenshot allegedly showcasing the Edo State Governor’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results. The shared document highlighted several poor grades, including D7s and E8s, implying that the governor lacked the academic record to criticize others.

The social media post quickly went viral, sparking intense debates among Nigerians online regarding the qualifications of political leaders versus their performance in office. While some netizens defended Okpebholo, others praised Davido for standing up for his family and using his massive platform to counter political rivals.
