 Prince William and Kate Middleton bring George, Charlotte and Louis to Commonwealth Games for first Scotland public outing Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their three children to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, marking the siblings’ first official public appearance in Scotland. The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, attended the sporting event on Saturday, Aug. 1, during their summer break with Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8. While in Scotland, where William and Kate are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, the family spent time with Team Wales athletes and their families. The couple also visited SportsAid, an organisation that supports young athletes. Kate has served as patron of the organisation since 2013. NSCDC LICENSES 44 NEW PRIVATE GUARDS COMPANIES TO BOOST SECURITY.  The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued operational licenses to 44 new Private Guard Companies (PGC) to boost national security. NSCDC Commandant General (CG), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, distributed the licences on Thursday at the NSCDC National headquarters, Sauka,  Abuja. Dr Audi while issuing the licenses, warned that it was not for business purposes alone but an opportunity to contribute their quota to the security of the nation. He said that ensuring national security was non-negotiable, adding that all guards must be vigilant while discharging their duties. “You are receiving your licence towards the end of a regime where we have some disgruntled elements threatening the unity and peace of this nation, so, your first assignment is to be vigilant during this period,"...

BUA Refinery Opens By 2024 200,000 barrels per day BUA Petroleum Refinery will commence full commercial operation in 2024. Giving graphic details on the economics of Nigeria’s second largest petroleum refining complex in Lagos at the weekend, Executive Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, said the project was initiated against the backdrop of the huge amount of foreign exchange the nation spends importing refined petroleum products into the country. Rabiu who defended the sustainability of his Group’s investment in the various sectors of the economy, said the refinery project will meet the government’s economic diversification agenda in the long run, as new fuel standards continue to evolve in line with the climate crisis.

Governor Sule Dissolves Cabinet, Retains SSG, SSA On Governor's Office  ***  Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Thursday dissolved his cabinet ahead of his swearing-in on May 29, 2023.  He'll be sworn in alongside his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe for a second term of 4-years.  The Governor announced the dissolution during the valedictory session of the State Executive Council at the Government House, Lafia.  He however retained Barrister Muhammud Ubandoma Aliyu and Malam Muhammad Abubakar as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Governor's Office respectively.

DASH Commences Laporoscopy Surgery *** The Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, Nasarawa State has commenced laporoscopy surgery.  The Head of Surgery Department, Dr. Odunze Odala who announced this on Thursday described the commencement as a landmark achievement which will pave the way to do greater things for the people of Nasarawa State. She lauded the Chief Medical Director, Dr Ikrama Hassan and his management staff for their dogedness in getting things done in the hospital.  Ms Odala however appealed for the training of doctors and nurses for effectiveness in the procedures.
