 World's tallest man says he's 'very sad' after revealing reason wife divorced him Sultan Kösen, recognized as the world’s tallest man at 8 feet 3 inches, has spoken candidly about the end of his marriage to Merve Dibo, who stands at 5 feet 6 inches.  The couple wed in 2013 in a lavish ceremony attended by 1,500 guests, with Kösen describing their union as the fulfillment of his dream to find love and start a family.  Despite his deep affection for Dibo, their relationship ended in 2021, with Kösen revealing that she ultimately chose her family over their marriage.  Reflecting on the breakup, he admitted the separation left him heartbroken, saying he still feels emotional when looking back at their wedding photos. THE FIRST WINE AUCTION IN NIGERIA AS PROFESSORS WOLE SOYINKA TURNS 85.{PHOTOS}.

    “Since my birthday came along; I have always been feeling ungracious, that other people celebrate my birthday, more than I do. For me, it’s a pain! Except for this one. I’ve been enjoying this one, because of this event”.  Those were the words of the revered writer, activist and theatre genius: Professor Oluwole Akinwande Babatunde Soyinka.

And the roar of applause fills the auditorium; as Professor Wole Soyinka opened the floor to the ’First Wine Auction in Nigeria’. The event, which is sponsored and packaged by Mr. Nero Asibelua’s Winestitute, to mark the 85th Birthday of the First Noble Laurette in Africa and simultaneously raise funds for the ‘Wole Soyinka Foundation’ through the auction ceremony.

Kongi, as he is fondly addressed by his contemporary, spoke about the idea of celebration, and celebrating by drinking wine and equally creating wealth, and also remain humane to share the joyous moments with family and friends.

‘Wine Auctioning’ dated back the seventeenth century and it’s presently pacing the billion-dollar venture. But for the records, Winestitute Nigeria and Wole Soyinka Foundation remain the first to auction premium wines in Nigeria.

And what a noble way to do it than in the presence of top players in the country. The guest list includes Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi; Professor Duro Oni; Former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola; Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and other dignitaries.What caught my attention was the brandishing of the Wine Bottle and the entire process. The 200 bottles of wine specially made for this enigmatic event are serially numbered and each has Professor Soyinka’s signature signed on it plus hanging a poem written by the foremost African Noble Laureate on the neck of each bottle. Truly these particular set of bottles of wine are collector's items.The event took place on Monday the 15th of July,2019.More photos below.
