‘Holy grail’: Antique ‘fox head’ bought at a flea market turns out to be an ancient extinct species valued at $85K It was the Fantastic Mr. Faux. A UK antique collector was shocked after realizing a taxidermied “fox head” was actually the supremely rare bust of an extinct predator called a Tasmanian Tiger. “I will never find anything better,” the curious cranium’s owner James Cranfield, a natural history relics dealer, told the BBC of the once-in-a-lifetime find. The incredible saga began innocuously enough when an anonymous seller bought the artifact for around $67 at a county fair because they were amused by its googly eyes and cartoonish smile, Science Alert reported. So they were naturally quite surprised after putting it up for bidding at the Auctioneum in Bristol and seeing it go for 1,000 times that. Cranfield, who specialized in collecting “weird and wonderful fox heads” to demonstrate diversity in taxidermy, had reportedly been intrigued after discovering the “19th centur...

NYC TENANTS BEG FOR HELP AS SPLASHY SQUATTER AND BAND OF NAKED VAGRANTS TERRORIZE HOUSING PROJECT. (PHOTO).

NYC tenants beg for help as splashy squatter and band of naked vagrants terrorize housing project He might look like a clown, but he’s no laughing matter to the beleaguered tenants of a NYCHA building in Chelsea. A vagabond decked out in a kaleidoscopic wardrobe and head scarves has set up camp in a city apartment building where the unhinged squatter and his band of homeless friends have terrorized tenants for more than two years. Despite daily complaints about the dangerous situation, tenants said the city seems powerless to remove the man who has laid claim to an apartment to which he has no legal right. The squatter, named in court documents as Stuart Newman and described as an aggressive man in his 40s, moved in when the former occupant, 77-year-old Harvey Wasserman, died in June 2024, according to a lawsuit filed by the New York City Housing Authority that November. Since then, he’s refused to leave the Robert Fulton Houses, despite being taken to court and repeated visits fr...
