 FG TO OPERATIONALISE 112 CODE AS NATIONAL EMERGENCY LINE The Federal Government has directed stakeholders and relevant agencies to design a comprehensive operational roadmap for the nationwide rollout of the 112 national emergency number.  To this end, the government has constituted a committee comprising the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Communications Commission, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps and other relevant  agencies to finalise the roadmap and standard operating procedures for formal endorsement of the National Economic Council (NEC).  Transgender woman imprisoned for falsely accusing six men of rape in the UK A 26-year-old transgender woman, Khloe Simmonds, has been sentenced to prison after admitting that she falsely accused six men of rape over a seven-year period in the United Kingdom. On Monday, September 7, 2026, Harrow Crown Court sentenced Simmonds to seven and a half years’ imprisonment after she pleaded guilty to eight counts of perverting the course of justice. The court was told that between July 2018 and January 2026, Simmonds made at least 12 false allegations. Several of the accused men were detained by police before investigations established that the claims were untrue and they were released.  87-year-old man charged with attacking Adamawa judge An 87-year-old man, Dahiru Garba, has been charged in Adamawa State after allegedly attacking a judge with a cutlass and causing severe injury to his hand. Garba, a resident of Korawa village in Fufore Local Government Area, reportedly became enraged and attacked Dauda Hamman, the presiding judge of the Mayo-Inne Area Court. DAILY POST reported on Tuesday that the incident occurred on Monday, August 31, while Hamman was hearing a case involving Garba and another man identified as Ismail Yusuf. According to the Adamawa State Police Command, which is prosecuting the matter, Garba attacked the judge with a cutlass, leaving him with grievous injuries. Nigerian Migrant Jailed For 25 Years After Raping Teen He Dragged Into Woodland In UK A Nigerian national, Gift Oladele, 24, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after raping a 19-year-old woman in Wrexham, Wales. Oladele reportedly dragged the woman into woodland as she walked home after a night out. During the attack, he threatened and assaulted her before making a disturbing remark telling her that she had “had enough”. The victim said she feared for her life during the attack and immediately reported what happened to her parents after managing to return home. Police arrested Oladele the following day. The case has attracted widespread attention because Oladele had previously been jailed for two years in 2022 for falsely imprisoning another woman in Manchester.
