 15-year-old girl rescued after she was allegedly locked inside a toilet for months by her bosses A 15-year-old girl identified as Amarachi, has been rescued after she was allegedly locked inside a toilet for months by her bosses in their home in Abuloman, Rivers state Amarachi, who hails from Ebonyi State, was living in the couple, Eze Simeon and his wife as a maid. She is alleged to have committed an offence, and as a punishment, she was allegedly locked up in the toilet for months, subjected to severe neglect and fed only once a day with leftover food. She was rescued on Monday, September 15 after she raised an alarm when the couple had gone out. Her cry for help got to the neighbors who immediately contacted the police division in Abuloma.  UK court adjourns Poco Lee’s pre-trial to February 2027 The Snaresbrook Crown Court has adjourned the pre-trial hearing of Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, to February 2027. The dancer was expected to take his plea today, September 15, but failed to do so due to the unavailability of the charge sheet.  Following this development, the court fixed February 8, 2027, for his plea hearing. Poco Lee is expected to enter his plea at the hearing, indicating whether he is guilty or not guilty of the charges filed against him. His trial has also been scheduled for March 8, 2027. Poco Lee was granted bail on September 11, following his first appearance before the court.  Nigeria’s  inflation eases to 15.39% in August 2026   Nigeria’s headline inflation rate eased marginally to 15.39 percent in August 2026, down from 15.43 percent recorded in July.   The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced the movement in its latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, noting a 0.04 percent decrease compared to the previous month.  On a month-on-month basis, headline inflation stood at 0.71 percent in August, which was 0.86 percent lower than the 1.57 percent recorded in July, indicating that the average price level increased at a slower rate. The food inflation rate stood at 19.57 percent on a year-on-year basis in August 2026, marking a significant drop from the 25.30 percent recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. On a month-on-month basis, food inflation fell to 1.02 percent, down by 4.55 percentage points from 5.56 percent in July. The decline was driven mainly by price moderations across key food staple...

 LAGOS-IBADAN  KARA BRIDGE ACCIDENT: NO CASUALTY AS  CONTAINER TRUCK CRASHES INTO SIX VEHICLES The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has confirmed that no life was lost and no one susttained injury when a 40-foot container truck crashed into six other vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Tuesday morning.  The statement says the container truck, which had no registration number, reportedly developed a mechanical fault while in motion, lost control and rammed into the other vehicles.  A 3-month-old died in the hospital with "mysterious" head injuries. Then investigators noticed the mother's diamond ring was a perfect match.  APPEAL COURT GIVES NIGERIA POLICE, ARMY VICTORIES   Efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to prosecute a man accused of alleged attempted homicide and machete attack on a victim in faraway Malaysia, has been boosted by the Court of Appeal Abuja Division, as the court ordered that the High Court of the FCT should compel the man's arrest and prosecution.  Prince Okoro Nkemakolam had  approached the appelate court, claiming that the police allegation of attempted homicide filed against him was not sustainable.  The judgement by the three man panel led by Justice Okon Abang is in line with Section 221 & 396 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.  Similarly, the Appeal Court has ruled that the Federal High Court did not give the Nigerian Army fair hearing, when it entertained a fundamental human rights suit filed against the army by an aggrieved individual, Abdeen Abubakar.  Abdeen Abubakar had alleged that they tortured him while in t...

 OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED DRUG PEDDLER, FOIL TERRORIST ATTACK, RESCUE TWO KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN KADUNA AND SOKOTO STATES Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), arrested a suspected illicit drug peddler in Kaduna State and foiled a terrorist attack, rescuing two kidnapped victims in Sokoto State, during separate operations on 12 and 13 September 2026. On 12 September 2026, troops of Sector 1, conducting a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, intercepted one Yohana Musa in possession of a large quantity of illicit drugs and substances while en route to Birnin Gwari.
