 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

Uba Sani Approves Implementation Of 2025 FGN-ASUU Salary Agreement For KASU Lecturers Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government of Nigeria–Academic Staff Union of Universities (FGN-ASUU) Salary Agreement for academic staff of Kaduna State University (KASU). The implementation, according to a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Yunus Abdullah Yunus, will take effect from the October 2026 salary. The development is expected to affect the remuneration of academic staff of the state-owned university in line with the provisions of the 2025 salary agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU.

 Kajuru: Fresh Terrorist Attack Claims One Life In Ugom Community A fresh terrorist attack on Ehwakya Community, under Ugom in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has claimed the life of a 43-year-old man, Mr. Sonny Musa Joshua. The attack reportedly occurred on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, throwing the community into mourning and renewing concerns over persistent insecurity in the area. According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union (UPU), Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya, the latest incident occurred barely three weeks after another attack on Ihwosho (Ung/Rogo), another community under Ugom.   FIFA rejects Morocco claim over 2030 World Cup final FIFA said on Friday that a decision on the venue for the 2030 World Cup final would be made “in due course”, after Moroccan football federation president Fouzi Lekjaa said the showpiece match would be staged in Morocco. Morocco, Spain and Portugal are co-hosting the 2030 tournament and have already begun competing for the right to stage the final, with Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu and a planned 115,000-seat stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca, viewed as the leading contenders. Lekjaa said on Wednesday that the final would take place in Morocco. “Benslimane province will host the World Cup final. Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading a high-level Nigerian delegation to the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, India. The summit, which is being held under the theme, “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” brings together leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, as well as invited international organisations. Nigeria became a BRICS partner country in January 2025 and is using the platform to strengthen South-South cooperation and broaden its engagement with major emerging economies.

 POLICE SPECIAL UNIT DEFUSES IED FOUND AT A GENERAL HOSPITAL IN BORGU LGA NIGER STATE. A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) discovered at the New Bussa General Hospital in Borgu LGA of Niger State has been defused by the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force An eye witness narrated  that the suspected explosive device was discovered by a  security man attached to the hospital. He reportedly alerted conventional security operatives who confirmed it to be an explosive device.      The situation however created panic at the hospital before operatives from the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria police force arrived the scene and successfully deffused the device before evacuating it from the premises for destruction. Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirms the incident in a statement says the situation is now under control while additional security personnel have been drafted to the location.

 FRSC ANAMBRA RECOVERS SUSPECTED STOLEN TRICYCLE IN AWKA  The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Anambra State Sector Command, has recovered a suspected stolen TVS King tricycle in Awka through its National Vehicle Identification Scheme.  The recovery followed verification on September 10, when a staff member of the Anambra State Motor Vehicle Authority presented documents for registration and uploading of the tricycle.  The documents identified Reverend Father Ikezuе Jeremiah Chinuogu of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka Diocese, as the proposed owner, prompting verification through the FRSC National Vehicle Identification Scheme.  During verification, the NVIS Desk Officer discovered that the tricycle had previously been registered in the FRSC database, leading to further checks and investigation.  The existing registered owner, Mr. Okoye Obiwenite of Ikenga Ogidi, was contacted and explained that he had given the tricycle to Mr. Aniagbaoso Nnamdi Chigozie on h...

 NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE EXTENDS UK PASSPORT INTERVENTION TO OCTOBER 3 The Nigeria Immigration Service has extended its special passport intervention exercise in London and Manchester to October 3, 2026, following a high turnout by applicants. In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, indicates that the exercise is progressing smoothly at the two centres despite initial challenges, with 1,477 Nigerians processed and enrolled within the first four days. More than half have already had their passports produced and dispatched. The Service reiterates that passport applications and payments are fully automated and cashless.  It adds, the extension, approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, runs from September 19 to October 3 and is intended to accommodate the increasing demand.

 FG bans 25% textbooks, sets 70% pass mark for school books The Federal Government has drawn a fresh battle line against substandard textbooks in Nigerian schools, declaring that instructional materials scoring below 70 per cent will no longer qualify for national ranking. The new standard followed the first-ever national textbook assessment and ranking exercise conducted by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council, NERDC, which exposed disturbing quality gaps in books submitted for use in Nigerian classrooms, with some scoring as low as 25 per cent.
