A prominent South African anti-immigration activist has sparked widespread debate after reportedly telling a court that he could not afford legal representation because he is unemployed. According to reports, the activist told the judge, “I don’t have a lawyer because I don’t work,” a statement that quickly went viral on social media and reignited discussions around unemployment, immigration, and xenophobia in South Africa.  Edo Gov. Visits Kano, Condoles Families of Uromi Massacre Victims

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited the Kano State Government House on Monday to offer condolences to the government and families of the 16 victims killed in Uromi, Edo State, last week. The trip comes amid widespread outrage in northern Nigeria over the targeted attack on traders from the region.

The victims, mostly from Kano and other northern states, were ambushed and killed in Uromi, a town in Edo's Esan North-East Local Government Area. The brutal killings have sparked protests in Kano, Katsina, and parts of Kaduna, with citizens demanding justice and better security for northerners living in the South.

Governor Okpebholo assured the Kano State government that his administration is working closely with security agencies to investigate the killings and bring those responsible to justice. He also expressed sympathy for the bereaved families, emphasizing that violence against any ethnic or religious group will not be tolerated.

The visit comes as pressure mounts on state and federal authorities to address growing concerns over ethnic tensions and insecurity across the country. Youth groups and community leaders in Kano have accused the Edo State government of not doing enough to prevent such attacks, calling for swift action to apprehend the perpetrators.
