 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

        On 31/03/2019 at about 5.05pm, the Command received a distress call that Lagos- Abeokuta Express Way has been blocked by some angry youths who were protesting the shooting of one Kolade Johnson m of No.1 Beco street, Onipetesi, Mangoro Bus Stop by a team of Policemen from Anti Cultism unit. A team of policemen from the Rapid Response Squads and Metro patrol were promptly drafted to the scene. The account of eye witnesses helped in identifying the team which fled the scene immediately after the incident. Members of the team suspected to be involved in the shooting have since been arrested and are currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation. They will be subjected to internal disciplinary procedures, and may be prosecuted in conventional Court if implicated by ongoing investigation.       The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has declared that it will conclude the Collation of the Rivers State Governorship election between April 2 and 5 of 2019. Addressing the stakeholders meeting on the resumption of electoral activities for the completion of outstanding 2019 General Elections in Rivers State on Saturday, INEC National Commissioner supervising Bayelsa, Edo and Rivers State, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu said that the Collation will be carried out transparently. He said: "All the results are with us in our strong room. They have not been tampered with. We are going to conduct the Collation Transparently. "INEC is here to complete this process and we shall complete the process successfully ".       Brigadier General Zakari Logun Abubakar takes over command of 32 Artillery Brigade Akure from Brigadier General James Ataguba who has recently been posted to Land Forces Simulation Centre as the Director, Training and Operations and Deputy Director General. The outgoing commander, Brigadier General James Ataguba in his valedictory speech at the send forth organised in his honour, thanked the media organisations, government functionaries and heads of sister security agencies in Ondo and Ekiti states for their professional support throughout his tenure. He enjoined them to give the same support to the new commander, Brigadier General Zakari Logun Abubakar. Brigadier General Abubakar is a member of 40 Regular Combatant Course and a seasoned Air Defence Artillery officer.       A wife has called out a lady who has been dating her husband and even boldly professes love for him on Facebook. The side chick, named Precious John, shared a photo of herself with Gift Uzor's husband. She called the married man her "future man" and said he loves her as much as she loves him. In anger, the man's wife replied to the post, calling out her rival. She called her a public dog and accused her of hanging out with her husband and the father of her four kids. But Precious wasn't repentant and she boasted in another post that she's hanging out with another woman's husband.        Congratulations are in order for the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) in Awka, Anambra state, who welcomed a set of quadruplets with wife after years of marriage. According to reports, Professor Charles Esimone and his wife had their first son in 2015, after 12 years of barrenness. The couple were over the moon following the miraculous delivery at  that time which surprised the family and other well wishers. Four years after the miraculous delivery, the Deeper Life campus pastor and his wife welcomed four babies (two boys and two girls) on Tuesday, March 26th (yesterday).       The 2019 African Wrestling Championship took place at Hammamet, Tunisia from 26 - 31 March 2019. The Championship had participants from many African Countries, featured male and female participation in the Cadet, Junior and Senior Categories. Nigeria presented male and female wrestlers in the Senior Category. It would be recalled that Nigeria won the 2018 Edition of the African Wrestling Championships held at PortHacourt, Rivers State in February 2018. At the end of the female event (Senior Category) of the 2019 African Wrestling Championships, Nigeria retained the crown of female wrestling in Africa by winning 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals. Nigerian Army Female Wrestler, - LCpl Hannah Reuben emerged one of the medalists for Nigeria by winning a Silver Medal in the 72Kg Weight Category.       In the continuing escalation of offensive operations aimed at making islands and other settlements in Lake Chad untenable for Boko Haram Terrorists, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) over the weekend embarked on clearance operation in Kerenoa and adjourning areas. Contact was made with Boko Haram Terrorists at Andakar Camp. In the ensuing fire fight, Malloum Moussa; Boko Hara m Commander, along with 15 of his men were neutralized. 5 Gun Trucks were also destroyed. A woman whose relationship with the terrorists is yet to be determined was apprehended. Information gathered has revealed that Malloum Moussa who had one eye was a high ranking Boko Haram Commander who had jurisdiction in the entire southern islands, including Daban Masara, Kirta Wulgo and Koleram.
