Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search. Vanguard had reported how pro-Jonathan protesters stormed his office, demanding he contest in the forthcoming presidential election.  A spokesman for the group, Mayor Samuel, who is also the convener of the Youth Compatriots of Nigeria said, “We were deceived and brainwashed by those who claimed they could do it in 2015.  “Now, we know better, under Jonathan the minimum wage could buy one or two bags of rice. ORTOM NOMINATES TERVER AKASE, ONE OTHER AS SPECIAL ADVISERS Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has forwarded two names of nominees for appointment as special advisers to the legislature for approval. The names of the nominees, which are contained in a letter, were read yesterday during plenary of the assembly by Speaker Titus Uba in Makurdi. The state house of assembly has granted approval to the names which is his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase and one other. The approval, therefore,brings the total number of the Special Advisers to 32.

Court Jails Internet Fraudster in Port Harcourt Justice S. D. Pam of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced an internet fraudster, Ochei Andrew, to two years imprisonment for impersonation.  He was jailed on Thursday April 21, 2022, after pleading "guilty" to the two count charges preferred against him by the EFCC.

Confirmed: Frontline Presidential aspirant, Mr Peter Obi's phone was stolen earlier today where he was attending the burial of the father of Valentine Ozigbo at Amesi in Aguata LGA. It was reported that Obi has been thrown off balance as his phone can not be traced.  The person who stole it has since switched it off. Sad. More details later.
