Tinubu forgave Northern govs who opposed him in 2023, says Shettima Vice President Kashim Shettima has said President Bola Tinubu demonstrated political maturity by forgiving northern governors who opposed his presidential bid in the 2023 election, urging politicians in Kwara State to similarly reconcile after their contests. Shettima stated this on Wednesday in Ilorin while speaking at the turbaning of the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. Anambra Environment commissioner reads guidelines to abattoir operators By Kennedy Aniedozie The Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu has summoned a meeting of all the abattoir operators in the State to his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka. The meeting was in line with the vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in creating a clean and healthy environment in all the sectors of the state. Engr. Odimegwu who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ngozi Iwuno said that the operation of Abattoirs in the state would no longer be business as usual. Varsity student takes own life over failed bank transaction 22 January 2023  A 300-level student of Industrial Design, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Olona Babajide Joseph has committed suicide over failed bank transaction, details have emerged.  Olona Babajide Joseph took his own life Saturday. The deceased close friends said he committed suicide because he was accused of fraud. Olona’s body was found dangling from the ceiling of his room after some students broke into his off-campus apartment. The deceased, who had a clothing brand called “Tart Angles”, was said to have been the Financial Secretary of the department. It was learnt that his father was called and informed about the alleged fraud. A student said: “The Treasurer of the department wasn’t around to receive payment for dues for the new session. Anambra State Government Shuts Down Hospital In Awka For Operating Below Standards Anambra state government has commenced inspection of private hospitals in the state. The exercise which kicked off in Awka took the team led by the Head of Medical Services in the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu to various medical facilities within the city where they temporarily shut down King David Hospital Awka for operating below standards. One Of The Victims Of Rape In Unizik Awka Attempts Suicide One of the female students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State raped by armed robbers who raided a students’ hostel has been threatening to commit suicide. The girl in her early 20s, who was reportedly a virgin and a “born again” Christian had been attempting to commit suicide but being restrained by her fellow students. The incident happened in the early hours of Friday and is coming barely four days after students were attacked by gunmen at bars and restaurants in the area. It was gathered that the armed robbers numbering about 20 and armed with various weapons including guns, axes and matchets, stormed the hostel located at Ifite road in Awka, the State Capital and shot indiscriminately as they moved from room to room robbing the students of their valuables and raping the female students.
