US-China trade talks begin in Paris, setting stage for Trump-Xi summit  U.S. and Chinese officials began high-level trade talks in Paris on Sunday, setting the stage for President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Beijing to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in about two weeks. The delegations are led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. While the White House has announced Trump’s visit for March 31 to April 2, Beijing has not yet confirmed the dates. Bessent emphasized that the U.S. team aims to secure outcomes that prioritize American farmers, workers, and businesses. Over the two-day talks, the delegations will focus on trade and economic issues of mutual concern. Trump’s visit will be his first to China since his first term in 2017 and follows a one-year truce in the U.S.-China trade war agreed upon last year in Busan, South Korea. Despite the truce, tensions remain, including over a new U.S. trade investigation into 16 trading partners...

LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT,DISOBEY'S COURT ORDER ON LEKKI IKOYI TOLL.

According to a national newspaper, the Legal Defence and Assistance project {LEDAP},has slammed the Lagos State Government for violation of a court order which banned the collection of tolls on the Lekki Ikoyi link bridge.Mr Chino Obiagwu, the National coordinator of LEDAP,said ''Despite the order of the court, toll fees are still being collected from motorists on the bridge. The judgement of court was issued in the presence of lawyers of the state government. The Attorney General of the state Mr Ade Ipaye said at a press conference after the judgement that the government will appeal against the judgement.Such excuse is not a reason for disobeying the court order. The primary condition of constitutional Democracy is that Judgments and orders of court must be complied with by all persons concerned, including the government. It is regrettable that the Lagos State Government, governed by the major national opposition party, will flagrantly disobey court order, and continue to collect toll on the Lekki Ikoyi bridge. The conduct of the government in this regards smacks of  impunity and a complete disregard for the rule of law''.He also went ahead to say that ''The people must stand to resist abuse of power by public officials''.My question is these,is't not Tax money they use in building all these toll gates in Lagos?,so why pay for what has been paid for already.
