Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside. Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement. This annoucement was contained in a statement by DSP Celestina Kalu in Asaba today saturday that ''Police patrol team attached to Quick Response Squad,Warri intercepted a Ford Transit van with Reg.No {Lagos}EPE 790 XH,on June 25.The vehicle was loaded with fairy used Mikanosp 20 generator and Denyo Daw-18083.OKVA welding machine.The vehicle was being escorted by one Ochoche Mathew 'm' who was fully dressed in police uniform with F/NO.255038 and Cpl rank.However,preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect,who previously served with 20 PMF Lagos,have since been demolished.Our investigation revealed that Ochoche was demobilized from the force on July 18,2011.Mathew is no longer in the police service''.The statement added that the suspect was arrested for impersonation and is undergoing investigation and that the vehicle and the exhibits he was escorting had been impounded.One more photo below.
