 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting.                        According to witnesses in Ekiti state,many of the Major roads that lead the way into the Ekiti state capital,Ado Ekiti,have been barricaded and shut don by thugs under the direction of Governor Ayo Fayose.A spokesperson for Governor Fayose confirmed the news to pressmen saying that PDP supporters are at checkpoints at Ado Ekiti and are preventing APC lawmakers from creating anarchy.The lawmakers efforts to impeach Governor Fayose is intended to stop the peace in the state''.This latest development comes days after Governor Fayose promised an uprising in his state if the All Progressives Congress {APC} lawmakers continued on with their impeachment efforts against him.In particular he called on the motorcycle riders and other groups of Ekiti citizens to obstrct daily life in the state.Witnesses observed Fayose's thugs barricade the Olasore side and Efon Alaye section of the express road,as well as the Ikere section of the Akure Ado express road.Witnesses say the thugs expressed that they would not open the roads until 4pm this wednesday.
