Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. According sources,two Moroccan women {Hairdressers} aged 23 and 29,have been acquitted of ''Gross indecency'' charges after they went on trial for wearing short skirts.The women were arrested on June 16 2015,in a market in lnezgane,near Agadir,after being heckled by market traders.Their case sparked a national outcry and an internet petition calling the arrest an attack on personal freedom,attracted thousands of signature.Defense Attorney Houcine Bekkar Sbai said ''This is a victory not only for these two women but for all members of civil society who mobilized''.Fouzia Assouli ,head of the LDDF women's rights organization,confirmed the acquittals handed down by a court in the southern city of Agadir said ''This acquittal is positive and shows that wearing this type of clothing {a skirt or dress} is not a crime''.One more photo below.
