 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.                       Today wednesday it was reported that around 12:30pm,there was another shark attack at Ocracoke Beach,in Hyde County North Carolina.Though the Hyde County's Twitter page says the incident happened around 12:10pm and the victim is being flown off the island for medical treatment.Last week,two shark bites occured in Dare County,one in Rodanthe and the other in Avon.Friday last week,a 47 year old Charlotte man was injured about a mile north of the Avon fishing Pier when he was bitten in the back by a shark.The man was reportedly swimming with others when the incident occurred.Witnesses say the man thought the sharks were dolphins.He suffered various injuries to his right leg and lower back.He was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance and helicopter to Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia for his injuries.The next day,a 17 year old boy was swimming with several others when the shark bit him along the beach in Rodanthe.He sustained serious injuries to his right calf,buttocks and both hands.He was also transported to Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia for his injuries.One more photos below.
