Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside. Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement. According to Leonard Nyangoma,a veteran political leader who heads the opposition CNARED coalition,said President Nkurunziza had declared war on his people and demanded the president to step down from office.Nyangoma described the situation in Burundi as extremely serious saying that both the political,socio-economic situations were deteriorating day by day.The election held last month in Burundi were boycotted by the opposition and the international community condemned them as being neither free nor fair.Nyangoma who is skeaking from Europe,where he is now based said ''Security forces are targeting opponents of Nkurunziza with numerous arrests,torture,killings and atrocities''.Nkurunziza's effort to run for a third term in office sparked protest,failed coup and fleeing of Burundi citizens who are currently refugees in neighbouring countries.One more photo below.
