 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

2 NYSC RELEASED,AFTER BEING ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH A ROBBERY IN NIGER STATE.

                   Today friday,the Management of the National Youth Service Corps {NYSC} said in a statement in Abuja that it findings revealed that the accusation leveled against the trio was based only on circumstantial evidence.The attention of the management was drawn to a newspaper publications that reported that three corps members were held by police in Niger over alleged armed robbery.The newspaper had reported that the corps members were in police custody following allegations of robbing a shop owner in Suleja.According to the statement,two of the accused corps members have since been released while the process of securing the release of the third is on going.It said that the office of the Secretary to the Government and the Ministry of Youth Development had lent its support to the matter.The assured the public,particularly parents and guardians,that no corps member would be allowed to suffer unduly especially over cases of mistaken identity during the service year.''Management further wishes to allay the fears of all Corps members serving in Suleja regarding their safety.We have already intensified liaison with the Army,Police and other security agencies in the area as well as the Suleja Emirate Council who have all renewed their commitment to the protection of all Corps members in the area''.
