 Utomi, Falana, Ezekwesili seek automatic sack of defectors A coalition of prominent civic leaders, labour figures and political actors under the aegis of the Movement for Credible Elections has asked the National Assembly to amend the law to ensure that any elected official who defects from the party under which they were elected automatically loses their seat. The group said making cross-carpeting a ground for immediate loss of mandate and conduct of fresh elections would strengthen party discipline and protect the integrity of the ballot ahead of the 2027 general elections. The demand formed part of a petition the coalition submitted to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, dated December 10, 2025, calling for urgent and comprehensive reforms to Nigeria’s electoral framework. AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE DIED,AFTER A CAR BOMB EXPLODED IN SOMALIA TODAY.

             Today monday,the police in Somalia's capital Mogadishu said at least five people were killed when a car bomb exploded close to the presidential palace.There was no immediate claim of responsibility from the Islamist militant group al Shabaab,the group that have been trying to overthrow President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's Western backed government.The group stepped up attacks this month,retaking a town in the central region and attacking African Union troops.
