 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION TODAY AFTERNOON,AT OWORONSHOKI LAGOS STATE.

             Around 1pm today sunday at House 88 {a bungalow},behind Oworonshoki bus stop,was riped apart by an explosion.The explosion caused a serious vibration and panic among the people.A huge crowd was seen gathering at the scene of the explosion,which left several houses destroyed and the windows of some shattered.Emergency rescuers were in the area to rescue lives.They include officials of the Lagos State Fire Services,Lagos State Emergency Management Agency,LASEMA,the police and others.Many eye witnesses claimed it was a bomb explosion while others said it was a gas explosion.The explosion also shattered glasses withing 1km of its radius and eye witnesses believes there are casualties.General Manager,Michael Akindele deunked claims that the explosion was a bomb,saying that it was a chemical explosion.He said the explosion occurred in a bungalow where gas and carbonated drinks were being sold.He further said a leakage from one of the gas cylinders ignited the explosion and that with the aid of carbonated wares being sold,the explosion was massive and destroyed some houses close to the building.He said the bungalow housed five shops,one of which the gas was being sold and other carbonated drinks.Foure people were injured in the explosion,which includes three male adult and a six month old baby,saying that the baby had been rushed to Lagos state University Teaching Hospital,LASUTH,for urgent medical attention.''No life was lost,we only have four casualties,three adult male and a six month old baby.The recovery process is still ongoing.It is not a bomb explosion but a chemical explosion''.One more photo below.
