 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. CLASH BY RIVAL GROUPS DISRUPTED BAYELSA POLLS,BUT NORMALCY WAS RESTORED BY THE POLICE

                        According to the Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer Mr Asinim Butswat an ASP,who spoke with NAN today in Yenagoa said the Command had received report of clash by rival groups which disrupted the electoral process in the area.He said one person was injured during the clash,while the police arrested some suspects in the process.''We have made some arrests and normalcy has been restored in the area.Security reinforcement was sent to Oporoma and we can say that the electoral process had commenced there''.He further state that the information available to the police showed that no life was lost during the clash.He said that accreditation had commenced in some parts of the area,and the governorship election in these areas had been peaceful while security agents were on high alert to check any breach of the law.One more photo below.
