 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. A SECURITY GUARD WAS ARRESTED FOR STEALING,FROM HIS EMPLOYER IN LAGOS.

                    A 27 year old security guard identified as Philip Adeleke from Saki in Oyo state,was accused by the police in Lagos state of stealing several engineering equipment worth N820,000 from his employer's store.He was arraigned today monday at an Igbosere Magistrates Court in Lagos on a two count charge of breaking and entering and stealing.Prosecuting Sergeant Nicholas Akpene standing in for Sergeant Babatope Julius told the court that the defendant who came to Lagos in 2008,was employed as a guard at a construction site at Ikate Elegushi when he allegedly committed the offences.He further alleged that on December 28,2015 the defendant ,broke into a store at the site and stole a 7.5 KVA KIPOR generator,Steel Scaffold,Acro props pipes and a pumping machine all valued at N820,000,property of one Charles Iwobho.However,the defendant denied both charges and was granted bail of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.The case was adjourned till January 19,2016.
