 SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS PRESIDENT'S POWER TO DECLARE EMERGENCY RULE The  supreme court has affirmed the president's constitutional authority to declare a state of emergency in a state threatened by breakdown of law and order, including the power to temporarily suspend elected officials as an extraordinary measure to restore stability. The seven-man panel of justices of the apex court gave the order in a 6 to 1 split decision on a suit filed by Adamawa state and 10 others challenging president Bola Tinubu's march 18, 2025 declaration of emergency rule in Rivers state.  The declaration had led to the six-month suspension of the state's governor, deputy governor, and members of the house of assembly amid prolonged political crisis and security concerns. CONGO IS SET TO RELEASE 150 ADOPTED CHILDREN,TO THEIR FOREIGN ADOPTED PARENTS.

                             Today monday,it was reported that the interior minister of Democratic Republic of  Congo said that their country will allow  150 children adopted by foreign parents,mostly Americans to leave the country after spending more than two years in legal limbo.Congo became a favoured International adoption destination in recent years because it has more than 4 million orphaned children,according to the U.N children's agency UNICEF,as well as lax regulation.There interior ministry spokesman Claude Pero Luwara said an inter-ministerial commission had approved the exit visas.In November,the commission signed off on exit visas for aboutt 70 children adopted by European,Canadian and American families.Congo's government has come under intense pressure from those countries government to lift the suspension.In 2013,Congo imposed a moratorium on exit visas to children adopted by foreign parents,citing fears that the children could be abused or trafficked.The government has also voiced concerns about adoptions by gay couples.More photos below.
