 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. LAGOS STATE,TO START REGULATING ACTIVITIES OF DRIVING SCHOOLS.{READ}.

                      The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to regulate the operations of all driving schools in the State for effective service delivery,the General Manager,Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency,Mr. Lateef Lawal disclosed this at the Agency's Headquarter,Ikeja.He also said that a State Standing Committee on accreditation of driving schools operating in the State has been constituted to look into ways of accrediting,regulating and re-registering all existing driving schools.Lawal further opined that part of the Committee's core mandate is to advise the state government in all matters relating to the driving schools operations,monitoring of their activities with a view to ensuring strict adherence to laid down rules and regulations,as well as,ensuring driver's proficiency and safety on the road.He stated that ''The Committee would also liaise with the Association of Driving Schools Owners of Nigeria,which represents driving schools in Lagos State''.Lawal itemised the newly adopted operational requirements to include,securing a certificate or license from the State Standing Committee;accreditation or licensing of driving school instructors after successful participation in a comprehensive training organized by the Lagos State Drivers Institute {LASDRI} in conjunction with Vehicle Inspection services {VIS} and the Federal Road Safety Corps {FRSC}.He expressed dismay at the non-incorporation of most driving schools in Lagos,adding that they must ensure that their training vehicles are road worthy and equipped with basic safety tools such as fire extinguisher,first aid box,tool box,certificate of compliance from Fire Service and also possess specimen documents/particulars for vehicle.The General Manager disclosed that an inspection exercise has been scheduled to commence from Monday 13th June,2016,leading to the compilation of data base of all the accredited driving schools while some schools would have to re-register and some others de-registered.He concluded by stating that henceforth,any new applicant for a driver's licence must pass through accredited driving schools.More photos below.
