NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Today tuesday,the U.S Embassy to Nigeria expressed concern over the reports of attacks and other incidents in the Niger Delta.This is contained in a statement issued by the Embassy's Public Affairs Unit in Abuja.''The U.S remains supportive of efforts,including the promotion of dialogue,to address grievances in the Niger Delta''.It appealed to all parties to resolve their disputes through peaceful means and emphasize that human rights of all Nigerians must be protected.It called on all Nigerians to persevere in efforts to achieve common goals.It stressed on the need to end violence and curb the activities of criminal elements.It called for the establishment of conditions and mechanisms for profound,positive and lasting changes in the region.According to the statement,there is the need for the provision of economic opportunity and the needed services for residents of the Niger Delta.
