Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. Koffi Olomide,who was caught on camera on friday kicking one of his female dancers right infront of police officers,though he later denied assaulting her her,was just arrested in his home country Congo 'Kinshasa'from his house .The reason for his arrest is still unclear,but it comes after the 60 year old musician assaulted a dancer at the Komo Kenyatta International Airport,over the weekend an incident that led to his deportation and cancellation of his show at Zambia's Agricultural and Commercial society,where he was scheduled to perform at the 90th edition.According to another source,he was charged with assault and battery,the source claimed that he has been charged to one year imprisonment for the offence.More information later.More photos below.
