Today, the Senate passed the 3rd and Final Reading of the 'Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities {Prohibition} Bill {2016} {SB 22}.''.This is a highly significant bill that seeks to curb the abuse in all forms of Nigerians with disabilities. Most importantly, this bill seeks to promote the respect of the rights of all Nigerians with disabilities. In the 6th and 7th Assembly, this bill was also passed, however, for one reason or the other,it was not signed into law.The Senate President said ''Many of you will remember that earlier this year, when i met with the leaders of the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities,i promised that the Senate would work on examining ways to strengthen our laws for people with disabilities. With what the 8th Senate has done today by passing this bill for its third and final time in the Red Chamber,it is my hope that this National Assembly can finally break this jinx by getting it passed by the House of Representatives and assented into law by Mr President''.
